I think also like the general perception that mitski is discussing like Womanhood and not the intersection of race and womanhood is like interesting like obviously it’s a good thing that woc aren’t being racially pidgeonholed but like. just because a mitski song isn’t overtly discussing race it doesn’t mean the experiences she’s talking about aren’t affected by race. like talking about not being beautiful or feeling like a failed woman…as a mixed Asian woman those things r all affected by race for me and almost certain are for her also. like idk I feel like there’s a lot of discussion about what mitski says about womanhood and kind of the assumption that her music can be seamlessly translated to white womanhood and it’s like. yes and no.
