something ive learned in my time in a relationship is that black women have this certain pain they carry in which if they speak on the situation that is bothering them then they face the presence of oppression from every person they encounter. when we talk about the intense dynamics in black households, the infidelity, the abuse, and the inability to speak on any of the problems that occur then we run the risk of allowing ourselves to be exposed to this certain form of..alarming misunderstanding from not only the black community but those outside of it as well. growing up, black women are told that they must be used to coddle and conform and if they do not like this then something must be wrong with them or they are labeled as aggressive and vile. we are monsters if we speak and cowards if we do not and ive found that in the relationships ive built and the ones that have been destroyed that each and every person has expressed this weird desire for me to care for them and baby them. ive met so many black women who have been forced to give up their sense of self to act as a mother and a lover to someone and it’s overwhelming tbh. the world truly does not deserve the kindness we have to offer and i don’t believe it ever will.
